Heating - A Warm House Is a Happy House

Oil heat is clean, efficient and safe. When installed professionally and serviced regularly, an oil-fired heating system will give you a cozy, energy-efficient house.

Basically, there are two broad categories for heating your home: boilers and furnaces. Boilers heat water and use a circulator pump and piping to move the water through radiators, thus heating the home. Furnaces, on the other hand, heat air and use a system of fans and ductwork that move the air around the house. With no ductwork to harbor and circulate allergens and dust mites, radiant heating systems are desirable where indoor air quality is a concern.

When the thermostat calls for heat, oil-fired furnaces & boilers provide the heat by pumping oil from a storage tank through a nozzle into the heater's combustion chamber. The fuel emerges as an atomized mist that is ignited by a high-voltage spark that arcs between electrodes. When ignited, the contant mist of fuel burns The pump motor also drives a blower that provides air for combustion. This process continues until the thermostat signals the pump to stop.

If the burner fails to ignite, or if the flame goes out before the thermostat is satisfied, there are two safety mechanisms built-in to every boiler and furnace. These safety mechanisms will stop the flow of the oil, preventing a buildup of excess fuel in the combustion chamber. The first mechanism is a stack heat sensor in the combustion exhaust line to the chimney. The second mechanism is a photoelectric cell aimed into the combustion chamber. When the flame goes out, the chamber goes dark causing the cell to shut the system down.

At the Bizee Centre, both Clifford and Lee Snair are factory-trained dealers for Wirsbo In-Floor Radiant Heating Systems. Wirsbo radiant floor heating warms people and objects, rather than the air. And when you don't warm the air, you save on heating costs.

Wirsbo Radiant Floor Heating can be used with most remodeling plans and new construction. Wirsbo tubing can also be installed in concrete as an overpour, under the floor, between the floor joists, or on top of the floor with Wirsbo quick track. It is an investment in comfort for you and your family.

Radiant heat:

• works with any floor covering
• is the only effective way to warm tile or marble floors in kitchens and bathrooms, and the only way to heat basements
• offers multiple thermostats, providing room-by-room temperature control
• provides convenient snow & ice melting for walks and driveways

As furnaces age, they need to work harder to produce the same amount of heat as when they were new. Since they use more oil, this results in higher heating costs. If you're considering a new furnace, look no further!

We can provide you with a quote that will include:

• an inspection of your current heating equipment
• heat loss, sizing and design of equipment to meet your needs
• removal and disposal of old equipment
• installation of new equipment includes start-up and efficiency test

Oil Storage Systems

When installing an oil tank, first consider the location.

MYTH: Oil tanks are safer outdoors.
FACT: Outdoor tanks that are subjected to the elements and fast changing temperatures in both winter and summer develop condensation on the inside surface of tanks.

Oil tanks installed in basements are exposed to fairly constant temperatures. Condensing does not occur with indoor tanks. Installing your oil tank inside is is the safer bet with few problems compared to outdoor tank installations. If, for example, one spoonful of oil should seep out of a valve, pipe, or the tank, it will soon be detected.

Tank leaks rarely begin with a fast flow of oil. Usually oil will weep for extended periods providing sufficient time to carry out corrective measures.

If an oil tank must go outdoors, make sure it is on a solid non-combustible base. The tank gauge and valve should have protectors to guard against rain, wind and snow.
